We are a non-profit child care centre located in Thunder Bay, Ontario. We are a parent-directed centre offering programs in a caring, nurturing, and safe environment.
Hours of Operation
We operate on a yearly basis. The scheduled hours of operation are from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday to Friday.
St. Bernard’s offers care before and after school from 7:30 AM to 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM, from September through to the end of June.
Centre Closing Dates
All statutory holidays will be observed. They are as follows:

- Easter Monday
- Civic Holiday
- Canada Day
- Victoria Day
- Labour Day
- National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Eve
- Christmas Day
- Boxing Day
- Family Day
- New Year’s Day
The Centre will follow the school’s winter break and will be closed between Christmas and New Year’s. The Centre will be closed yearly the week prior to the start of school to prepare our programs and allow for staff personal wellness days. On occasion, the centre may close to allow educators to attend Professional Development Days.
St. Bernard’s follows the Catholic Board school year calendar. PD day care is offered at our C.D. Howe location when both boards have PD and at the particular centre involved if it is a one-board PD day.
Harbour View Child Care Centre is governed by a Board of Directors. They meet once a month to discuss any issues, concerns, budgetary items, and policy reviews. Policies may be changed at any time according to the best interests/needs of the centre. Families are notified of any policy changes which are effective immediately.
